Ways that Social Media is like Angry Birds

In addition to an interesting blog giving examples and providing info how Angry Birds is like social media, Angry Birds has spread like wildfire in the past few years. I cannot think of anyone that I know who hasn’t at least tried an Angry Birds game. This is how effective this one idea is. Whoever came up with the idea of Angry Birds certainly executed the idea well. That’s all it takes too. When thinking of a new service or product, one only needs an idea and if it is done well, that person will be very successful. This is true because of Angry Birds as an example. That’s one of the ways Angry Birds is like social media. Some people cannot go even 1 day of not playing Angry Birds. Same could be said about using social media whether it be Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, YouTube, etc. Angry Birds even has invaded such social media outlets such as Google Chrome, Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and YouTube. Angry Birds nowadays is just as social as actual social media sites. Here are the ways Angry Birds is like Social Media:

1. When You Start, You Won’t Be Very Good

“So, you’ve convinced yourself to check out social media. You’ll get the hang of it. But not at first. Anything new seems a little disorienting at the start. Similarly, when you first give Angry Birds a try, you’ll likely stumble at first. You may even drop the ball (or flub your bird). You’ll get frustrated and want to quit. Then, just as you’re about to put the game down for good, you achieve an unexpected victory, and you’re on to the next level.”

2. Failures Provide Clues to Success

“Once you’ve mastered the basics of social media, you’ll want to move on to strategy. There are a number of different ways you can get really good at optimizing your efforts, but perhaps the most effective way is learning from your mistakes. Play a particularly difficult level on Angry Birds and you are bound to make a lot of mistakes.”

3. A Diversion May Be Just What You Need

“Social media doesn’t always need to be about ROI (Return on Investments) or KPIs (Key Performance Indicators). Sometimes it’s completely legit just to have a little fun. Pleasurable activities of all kinds release endorphins, which can reportedly aid in stress management and improve overall health.”

4. Sometimes You Should Be Doing Something Else

“Of course, social media is a valuable part of your overall marketing strategy. But it shouldn’t be the only part. Perhaps we should have warned you that Angry Birds can be addictive. But there is a time and a place for everything. So if you find yourself standing in the same place, for a very long time — playing Angry Birds — then it’s probably time to move on to something more productive.”
